1. Common faults
Chain passivation: As the use time increases, the teeth of 3/8'' Low Profile Saw Chain will gradually become passivated, resulting in reduced cutting efficiency or even failure to cut normally.
Chain slack: A loose chain will cause instability during cutting or even chain shedding. This is usually caused by chain stretching or guide plate wear.
Chain jamming: During use, the chain may get stuck due to foreign matter in the wood or problems with the chain itself, causing the machine to stop working or the chain to be damaged.
Chain breakage: In extreme cases, the chain may break due to overload or improper operation, posing a threat to both the operator and the machine.
2. Troubleshooting methods
Chain passivation
Identification: Observe the teeth of the chain. If the teeth are obviously blunt or cannot cut effectively, they need to be sharpened or replaced.
Elimination: Use a professional chain saw sharpener to grind the chain and restore its sharpness. If the wear is severe, it is recommended to replace the chain with a new one.
Chain slack
Identification: Observe the movement of the chain on the guide bar. If the chain is too loose, it needs to be adjusted.
Troubleshooting: According to the model and manual of the chain saw, find the chain tensioner and adjust the tension of the chain appropriately to keep it at the appropriate tightness.
Chain stuck
Identification: When the chain saw suddenly stops working during cutting, or the chain makes an abnormal sound, the chain may be stuck.
Troubleshooting: First turn off the power of the chain saw, then carefully check the chain and guide bar and remove foreign objects. If the chain is damaged, you need to replace it with a new one.
Chain break
Identification: When the chain breaks, it is usually accompanied by abnormal noise and vibration.
Troubleshooting: Immediately turn off the power of the chain saw and check the cause of the chain break. If it is caused by overload or improper operation, you need to avoid similar situations from happening again. If the chain is severely broken and cannot be repaired, you need to replace it with a new chain.
